ROWLESBURG, WEST VIRGINIA is a quaint railroad town located on the scenic big bend of the Cheat River, 35 miles Southeast of Morgantown. Read the description below and "Get Directions" with the map.
Rowlesburg is tucked away in the Cheat River Valley surrounded by majestic hills, rising on all sides from the banks of the beautiful Cheat River. October is Autumn Glory month.
Rowlesburg is known for its festivals, Civil War and railroad history, outdoor activities and antiques. Travelers come from across the U.S. to raft and fish the “wild and wonderful” Cheat River.
Rowlesburg has become a tourist destination, hosting annual festivals: River City Festival of Arts, US Military & Veterans Commemoration Day, Labor Day Ox-Roast, the West Virginia Chestnut Festival and the Christkindlmarkt (a European style Christmas Market).
